ScrecAI Extension Privacy Standards

1. Data Collection & Processing
We categorize data into three types: **A. Content Data (Screenshots & Video)** Processed **100% Locally**. When you capture a screen or record a video, the media files are generated and stored strictly on your device's local memory (IndexedDB). We do not upload your screenshots or recordings to our servers unless you explicitly choose a future cloud save option. **B. Account Data** If you log in to use Pro features, we store your email and subscription status (Free/Pro) via secure cookies to verify your license. **C. Anonymous Usage Data** We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous metrics (e.g., "Screenshot taken", "Video recorded", "Error occurred"). This helps us fix bugs and understand which features are popular. This data **does not** contain personal content, images, or input text.
2. AI & Smart Blur Privacy
ScrecAI utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect and blur sensitive data (Smart Blur). **Important:** The AI models run **locally in your browser**. Your webpage content is scanned by the extension code on your machine and is **never** sent to external AI servers (like OpenAI or Google Cloud) for analysis. This ensures that your private data (emails, credit cards, names) remains completely private and never leaves your computer during the blurring process.
3. Permissions Usage
We request only the minimum permissions necessary for the extension to function: - **activeTab**: To capture the visible area of the current tab. - **scripting**: To inject the Smart Blur logic and recording UI into the page. - **storage**: To save your preferences (e.g., video quality settings) and temporary snapshots locally. - **cookies**: Required strictly for synchronizing your login status with `screcai.site` (to activate Pro features). - **clipboardWrite**: To allow you to copy screenshots directly to your clipboard.
4. Third-Party Services
- **Google Analytics:** Used for anonymous usage statistics. - **Payment Processors:** If you purchase a Pro plan, payments are handled securely by third-party providers - Polar. ScrecAI does not access or store your credit card information. - **Authentication:** Login services are provided via our secure backend `screcai.site`.
5. Data Control
You maintain full ownership of your data: - **Deletion:** You can delete stored screenshots/videos from the extension's Dashboard at any time. This permanently removes them from your local storage. - **Opt-out:** You can use the extension without logging in (Free tier), in which case no account data is processed. - **Uninstallation:** Removing the extension instantly clears all local data and permissions.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or service. If we make significant changes, we will notify users via the extension update notes or email (for registered users). Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your consent to the new Policy.
